Liz on the helm: They're trying to pick out a new theme song, and I think they need help. Stern cam view of Bianca singing and dancing Gangnam Style. Francesca: Sings "mananana". Henry: It's the Muppets that go... Lucas: I don't know the name of it though. Bianca: I feel good, I knew that I would... Henry: Dancing Queen. Something like that. Lucas: Once I was a very young man, a very young man but not too clever... Dee: I do let them know if I don't like it. Want something upbeat, deal with victories and losses, get us up when we arrive and when we leave. It's a tough choice.Sailing south fast. Pole shots of the crew in the cockpit. Simeon on the helm. Double-heading with J0/J3? Cecile grinding. Simeon at the nav station reads a sched (or AIS?) of Scallywag's position. Jules: just passing the southern end of New Caledonia. Sailing a little further to avoid light air. Still heading south. Brad pulls a sail out from below. Sail change on the foredeck. Slomo washing machine. Simeon: Gained some bearing. Luke, below: Weather could allow Dongfeng and MAPFRE to cut the corner. Still anyone's race. Brad and Luke rock out, sharing a pair of earbuds. Jules and Simeon at the nav station. Jules talks about using the J0 now to give up some distance. Nicho talks about how they can do some things with Scallywag, but not with Dongfeng and MAPFRE because they're too far away. Can't get caught up in that. Pole shot of stacking the A3?Closeups: The hull slicing through the water. Marie sleeping with earbuds playing music. Someone tearing open a food packet. Adjusting a fan. Triple-heading in light wind. Grinding a winch. Taking off shoes. Wake, shaking up a drink. easing a sheet. Black sleeping. Winch. Pressing a "Start" button on a "Volvo Penta" panel (starting a winch?) Galley. Grinding. Ratcheting a stack strap. Clipping on a D-ring. (Heh. I can't keep up.) Sunset shot of another boat (MAPFRE?) Tea kettle whistling.Kevin, on the helm, whistles some music. Martin guesses the name; Kevin points his thumb at him. "He got it." Carolijn asks what it is; I think Kevin says Claire de Lune? But he translates into English at Carolijn's request as "the sound of the moon" rather than "the light of the moon"? I dunno. Guess it kind of sounds like Debussey. Maybe it's something else. Carolijn's turn. She laughs at her inept whistling. She asks Jérémie is he's a good whistler. Jérémie: No. Kevin whistles again: L'amour est un oiseau rebelle (Habanera) from Carmen. These European folk are so damn cultured! (I did recognize this one, though, despite being an ugly American.) Ima favorite this one, just because it's so cool how they're hanging out at the front of the fleet, just chillin'. Reminds me of that scene in The Natural when the team's firing on all cylinders and Pop and Red are sitting in the dugout playing basically the same game.Emily steers while wearing reindeer antlers. Beow, brad listens through earbuds as he inventories gear (?) in the bow (?). An inflatable shark head watches him. Brad talks to James. "Yeah, I'm just listening to Jingle Bells, Christmas carols, that sort of thing. Get myself in the festive mood." In the galley area, Justin is going through a bag of something while Emily distributes candies, including candycanes her mum brought over. She talks about how with freezedried food it's hard to do much in terms of Christmas dinner, but she's making sure everyone has their favorite. "Try to keep a happy boat." Justin: "I've got beef stroganof. Probbly my least-favorite meal on the boat. I was hoping for roast lamb, mashed potatoes." We see the pouches next to the galley with candycanes in each. Brad: "Chirsmas day has consisted of the same things we've been doing for the last 3 weeks. Four hours on, four hours off." He explains he's been doing some restocking of spares, making sure he knows what they've got going into the next leg. On deck, an animated Santa toy has been lashed to the instruments on the mast. He sings a rock & roll Christmas song. On the bow in the background, Martine and Brad (I think) are shifting t eh stack forward for lighter wind.
